AJ Michalka was born in Torrance, California. Her mother, Carrie, who is an accomplished musician as well, encouraged her to take up the profession of musician. Her birthplace was in Torrance, California, AJ was greatly influenced by her mother, Carrie, who herself was an accomplished musician. AJ lived her first years mostly in Torrance as well as Seattle. They began playing guitar and piano at the age of a child. They were already proficient in the field by the time they reached the age of adolescence. AJ started acting at the age of five and performed in church shows. AJ took part in the school's musicals. Her acting journey began in 2002 when she was eleven years aged and she played a starring part in the TV series Passions.
